Watermelon is a popular fruit that you often see at summer gatherings, BBQ’s and picnics. That’s because it has a sweet, sugary taste, which many people enjoy. It also is easy to transport and helps keep you hydrated on those hot summer days. Besides having a delightful taste, watermelon contains a number of nutrients, which benefit your body and help it function properly. Like zucchini, watermelon grows on vines and is rich in antioxidants. Some nutrients found in watermelon include vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, manganese and copper. In addition, watermelon has many other health benefits for your body.

Weight Loss

Watermelon is low in calories and has a high water content, so it helps keep you hydrated. That is why it is helpful for weight loss. Watermelon also has a number of nutrients that aid in the weight loss process including vitamin C, potassium and magnesium. Watermelon makes a good summertime slimming snack and can also be added to drinks and smoothies.

Helps Prevent Cancer

Watermelon has been shown to help in the prevention cancer. That’s because watermelon contains high levels of lypocene, which is a phytonutrient compound linked to cancer prevention. It also contains high levels of vitamin C, which is an important antioxidant for the body.

Aids In Digestion

Watermelon contains both fiber and has a high content of water, which helps aid in the digestion process. Many people go through the day without hydrating their body properly. While drinking plenty of water throughout the day is important, eating fruits and vegetables can also help hydrate your body and help prevent constipation. Why not snack on some juicy watermelon and promote your digestive health at the same time?

Helps Prevent Acid Reflux

Acid reflux has become a common problem for many people these days. That’s because many people eat the wrong types of food, many of which are acidic and promote gastrointestinal problems. Watermelons and other types of melons help to regulate the PH levels in your body and thus can help soothe your stomach and fight inflammation.  Watermelons also help promote a healthy gut and micro-biome.
