In this blog, I wanted to spotlight the health benefits of kiwis. Kiwis are a small, fuzzy fruit that are sweet to eat and abundant this time of year. Many people enjoy kiwis because they taste good and have a variety of health benefits. Like clementines, kiwis are loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that are good for your body, including vitamin C. Some other nutrients found in kiwis include vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin D, vitamin B6, folate and choline. Kiwis have other health benefits, as well.

Health Benefits of Kiwis

Boosts Immune System

Kiwis are loaded with a variety of nutrients that help build immunity. One key nutrient found in kiwis is vitamin C, which is known to boost the immune system. Vitamin C plays a big part in fighting off colds and the flu. Vitamin C is also beneficial in fighting inflammation, which is why it is important to eat plenty of foods rich in vitamin C, especially during the winter months.

Helps With Digestion

Kiwis are beneficial for digestion. That’s because kiwis are rich in fiber, which aids in the digestion process. Fiber rich foods make you feel full longer and add bulk, so are beneficial for digestion. Kiwis are also a low calories food, so they may be beneficial for weight loss.

Helps Promote Eye Health

Kiwis are good for your eyes. Kiwis contain a variety of antioxidants, including lutein and zeaxanthin, which are known to promote good eye health. Kiwis are also rich in vitamin C, which helps reduce inflammation and helps to keep eye cells healthy.

May Help With Cancer

Kiwis contain a variety of antioxidants and nutrients that may help with a number of types of cancer. Kiwis are rich in vitamin C, which helps decrease inflammation in the body, which is known to feed cancer cells. Kiwis also help promote a healthy gut, as they are rich in fiber, which helps promote good bacteria in gut and digestive tract. Having plenty of good bacteria in your gut helps stave off certain types of cancer. Make sure you add plenty of fruit and vegetables to your diet to help prevent  a variety of cancers and other ailments.
