It’s hard to believe Labor Day weekend is already here. Summer sure did fly by fast. I always hate to say good bye to summer, but thankfully I really do like fall and enjoy the beautiful colors and fall harvest time. Fall however, brings cooler temperatures too. For many people, that means more time inside, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it can be a good time to get caught up on those things around the house that were put on the back burner for summer. Fall is also a great time to develop some new habits and changes that involve your health, including eating better and more exercise. Following are a few healthy habits for fall I wanted to share.

6 Healthy Habits For Fall

  1. Declutter Your Closet—While most people think of decluttering in the spring, fall is a great time to clean out your closet. Why not get rid of any summer items you no longer want? You can also do some rearranging and move those summer items to the back of your closet or place them in storage bins. Decluttering not only allows for more space, but is freeing and can help renew your energy.
  2. Give Bone Broth A Try—There’s nothing like a warm drink on a cool, crisp day. While most people reach for cup of coffee or cocoa, why not trying sipping some bone broth? Bone broth is good for your body and health. In fact, bone broth helps maintain a healthy gut, as well as promotes healthy joints and muscles. It also helps build immunity, which can help stave off colds and flu that are often prevalent during the fall and winter months. Why not give it a try this season? Bone broth is easy to make and only requires a few ingredients. Most grocery stores sell bone broth too, so it’s convenient to buy. Give it a try for a boost of nutrients and energy. You can also use it as a base for for soup and stew.
  3. Experiment With Food— Fall is a great time to do more home cooking. Why not pull out one of your cookbooks and dust it off? You can also look for a new recipe to try on the internet or Pinterest for a fall get together with friends, or look for something new to try for dinner with the family. There are thousands of choices, so I’m sure you’ll find something you like.
  4. Try A New Indoor Activity— With the days ahead getting shorter, why not commit to starting a new indoor exercise routine? Maybe you can head to the gym after work? If that’s not for you, there are plenty of other choices. Why not try an online workout? YouTube is a great place to find a workout video, yoga and more. If you prefer to get out of the house, why not find a yoga studio near by? You can also take a dance class, try Zumba or maybe bowling. There are many possibilities and ways to stay active.
  5. Read More—Fall is also a great time to get back to reading. Why not start that book you bought that is sitting on your desk? Many people are preoccupied during the summer months with kids activities, vacations, concerts or heading to the cabin and don’t seem to have enough time to sit down and read. Why not spend a cool evening inside reading or take some time before bed to read a chapter or two? Many people find reading relaxing and an enjoyable past time.
  6. Drink More Tea—Drinking tea is another way to help you stay warm on those fall days and it’s good for you too. Many teas have medicinal properties, which can help with a variety of ailments. Many tea varieties also are rich in antioxidants, which help boost your immune system and can help keep you healthy during the fall and winter months. There are also many options when it comes to tea, from green tea, chai tea, peppermint, ginger, tumeric, licorice and more. I am sure you can find some variety you enjoy.

Thanks for reading!
