In this blog, I wanted to spotlight the health benefits of oranges. Oranges are a popular citrus fruit that are enjoyed by many people. That’s not surprising, as their sweet, refreshing taste can help brighten your day, especially during the winter months. Oranges contain an array of beneficial nutrients, which have many medicinal affects for your body. Like lemons, oranges are loaded with vitamin C and other antioxidants, which help you stay healthy and help boost immunity. Some other nutrients found in oranges include thiamine, folate and potassium. Oranges also contain fiber, which helps aid in the digestion process. Oranges have numerous other health benefits, as well.

Health Benefits Of Oranges

Helps Improve Memory

Oranges are loaded with potassium and folate, as well as other antioxidants that have neurological benefits, which can help with thinking and memory. Potassium specifically, has been shown to increase blood flow in the brain, which helps with concentration. Oranges also are rich in vitamin B6, which may help prevent depression.

Helps With Prevention Of Iron Deficiency And Anemia:

Oranges are rich in vitamin C and citric acid, which helps increase the absorption of iron in your body. This is especially important for those who are iron deficient or suffer with iron deficiency anemia. If you take an iron supplement, it should be taken with a vitamin C supplement, or some food rich in vitamin C, such as an orange to aid in the absorption process, as well as to help avoid stomach upset.

Helps Build Immunity:

Oranges are rich in vitamin C, which is beneficial in the fight against cold and flu symptoms, prevalent in the winter months. Vitamin C helps fight off infections and other illnesses too. Oranges are also high in antioxidants and help protect the body from free radicals.

Helps With Heart Health:

Heart disease is big problem and the most common cause of premature death. The good news is there are many foods that can protect your heart, including oranges and other citrus fruits. Oranges contain flavanoids that have protective properties. They are also rich in potassium, which has been shown to lower blood pressure. The high folate content in oranges additionally has been shown to help lower homocysteine, which is a risk factor for developing heart disease.
