In this blog, I wanted to share a recipe for some Home Made Trail mix. I don’t know about you, but I really like trail mix as it not only tastes good, but is a great way to get more healthy nutrients in your diet. Most trail mix combinations contain nuts, which include monosaturated fats (MUFAS), and are healthy fats. Your body needs these good fats to function properly and perform peak functions. Most healthy fats are plant based and can also be found avocados, nuts, seeds, olives and dark chocolate. I know you can find a variety of trail mix combinations at the grocery store, but it’s kind of fun to make your own. This way you get to choose what you like and can experiment with a variety of ingredients. Give this recipe a try if you are looking to boost your energy any time of the day.
Ingredients
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
1 cup coconut flakes
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup sun flower seeds
1/2 cup cherries
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup macadamia nuts
Directions
In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients and stir together. Place the mixture into a resealable container and store in a cool, dry place.
Enjoy!
