In this blog I wanted to share a recipe for some Healthy Pizza With Black Olives. Like a lot of people, pizza is one of my favorite things to eat. Unfortunately, many store bought pizza’s have a bunch of unhealthy ingredients that are not the best for your body. In general, many varieties of pizza contain some vegetables, but some of the other ingredients can be questionable. The crust and cheese is often loaded with preservatives that may be harmful for your body. A better option is to make your own pizza and add the type of ingredients you like. I found an organic pizza crust and pizza sauce I like at Target. I also added plenty of vegetables to add a variety of nutrients your body needs to thrive. I also added black olives, which contain good fats you need to help keep your muscles and joints flexible. I also added a handful of spinach, which is rich in iron and vitamin D and helps prevent iron deficiency and skin cancer. Give this recipe a try if you want to share a healthy meal with your family or are looking to eat healthier.

Ingredients

1 prepared organic pizza crust
1 Jar Organic pizza sauce
1 cup cheddar cheese (or other favorite type of cheese)
1/2 cup sliced black olives
1 handful fresh spinach
1/2 cup white onion, chopped
1 small red pepper, chopped
1/2 cup shitake mushrooms
1/2 pound Italian sausage
Sea salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Garlic powder to taste

Directions

In a large frying pan, sauté the Italian sausage, until the meat is browned. Add the onion, peppers, mushrooms and black olives and stir until the vegetables are slightly cooked. Season the mix with salt, pepper and garlic to taste and set aside. Place the pizza crust on a pizza pan. Spread the pizza sauce over the top. Add the fresh spinach on top of the sauce and then spoon the meat and vegetable mixture on top. Add the cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is slightly crisp. Remove from oven. Let the pizza sit for a few minutes to slightly cool. Serve alone or with a salad or some other fresh vegetable.

Enjoy!
