It is hard to believe that Labor Day has come and gone and summer is winding down. It’s always hard to say good bye to summer—the warm days, beautiful sunshine and all of those outdoor activities. But just because summer is winding down, doesn’t mean your activity level has to. The fall season is a great time to commit to some new activities and fall into change!

I don’t know about you, but I love the fall season. Fall has an appeal all of its own—the beautiful, vibrant colors, cool crisp mornings and the bountiful harvest of vegetables and produce. As the days get shorter however, you may not feel like walking in the dark after work. While you might be tempted to just turn on the TV, why not commit to joining a gym or taking a few yoga classes for a change? Many people enjoy being around others when they work out and taking a cycling class or Pilates class could be the perfect way to get in a little exercise, as well as meeting a new friend or two. You can also get a group of friends together for basketball or join a Zumba class at your local community center. There are many choices for some fun fall activities and what’s wrong with change? The point is to stay active. In my book, Wholey Cow A Simple Guide To Eating And Living, I talk about the importance of finding an activity you enjoy and developing a routine around it to stay active. I also talk about the importance of relationships and how they can affect your well-being. Finding a group exercise program might just be the perfect way to enhance your health.

Speaking of enhancing your health, fall is also a great time to make more home-cooked meals. Summer is typically busy for many people and making more home cooked meals may have been put by the wayside.  Why not take advantage of being indoors more and do a little more meal planning for a change of pace? Fall is great time to experiment with some new foods. You can start by browsing Pinterest for some new recipes to try, or pull out one of your cookbooks. Who knows, you might just find a new favorite recipe to make for that upcoming dinner party with friends or a couple new recipes to try for the upcoming week?
