In this blog, I wanted to share a recipe for some Easy Sesame Cauliflower Bites, I recently made. I don’t know about you, but I love the taste of sweet and spicy together and adding a little sesame makes it even better. This recipe is easy to make and is packed with healthy nutrients and spices to super charge your body. Like broccoli and zucchini, cauliflower contains a fair amount of fiber, which also aids in the digestion process. You can serve this recipe alone, with rice or with an entree. Give it a try if you like cauliflower. The Asian flavor will be sure to arouse your taste buds.

Easy Sesame Cauliflower Bites

sesame cauliflower

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 2 whole egg whites
  • 1 cup bread crumbs (You can use a gluten-free version, if desired)
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce (You can also use coconut aminos.)
  • 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. sweet chili sauce or sriracha
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
  • toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray and set aside.

Add the egg whites to a large Ziploc bag. Add cauliflower florets, close the bag, and shake around, until everything is well coated. In a separate ziploc bag combine the bread crumbs, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add the cauliflower florets to the bag, close it, and shake it around, until everything is well coated. Transfer the cauliflower florets to the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until tender and lightly browned.

While the cauliflower is baking, you can prepare the Asian sauce. Combine the sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, chili sauce and garlic in a nonstick skillet. Cook over medium heat. Stir the mix and then simmer for 10 minutes, or so. In a small mixing bowl, combine  the cornstarch and water and stir until the cornstarch is dissolved. Then add the cornstarch mixture to the soy sauce mixture and stir to combine. Remove from heat.

Remove cauliflower florets from the oven and pour he sauce over the florets. Using a large spoon, mix until well coated. Top with the toasted sesame seeds and green onions, if desired. Serve warm.

Enjoy!
