In this blog, I wanted to spotlight the health benefits of yuca. Yuca is a root vegetable also known as cassava and is harvested in
South America and other tropical areas around the world. If you are not familiar with yuca root, it is has a taste similar to that of the potato. The texture however, is more like that of squash and is a little stringy.
Yuca is loaded with a variety nutrients your body needs to function at an optimal level. Like potatoes, yuca is loaded with fiber, so they help aid in the digestion process. They can also be can be baked, boiled and fried and easily substituted for potatoes in a variety of dishes. Additionally, yuca is often ground up and made into flour for baking and cooking. Some nutrients found in yuca include protein, vitamin C, manganese, potassium, folate, magnesium, vitamin B6 and zinc. Yuca has other health benefits, as well.

Yuca not only tastes good, it contains properties that benefit the skin. Yuca is high in vitamin C, which aids in the production of collagen and helps with skin elasticity. Vitamin C also helps prevent free radical damage that can be caused by the sun. Some manufacturers like to add yuca to skin lotions, soaps and shampoos because of its high vitamin C content and antioxidant levels.
Helps With Arthritis Symptoms
Many people suffer with joint pain and stiffness associated with arthritis. The good news is there are some natural pain relievers available for arthritis suffers. In fact, it has been shown that eating more anti-inflammatory foods, such as yuca can help relieve pain. Yuca supplements are also available to purchase in vitamin shops, online and local drug stores.
How To Eat Yuca
You can serve yuca as a side dish, just like potatoes. You can also chop it up to use in soups and stews, as well as a variety of other dishes. Yuca flour can be used in baking and cooking and can be substituted for other types of flour.
