Many people are concerned about their well-being and are looking for ways to eat healthier. One easy way to eat healthier and add nutrients to your diet is at breakfast time. Many people are in a hurry in the mornings and often grab something to eat on their way out the door to work, or stop and grab some fast food item. Unfortunately grabbing something quick to eat isn’t always the best way to promote health, especially if you reach for a doughnut, or something sugary. A better way to improve your well being and eat healthier is to make yourself a smoothie. Smoothies have become popular over the last several years and it is easy to see why. Smoothies provide an easy way to include more nutrients in your diet. While many people use protein powder to make their smoothies, there are many other healthful ingredients you can use or add to your smoothie mix.

Some people like to add a banana, strawberries, blueberries or other fruit for a little sweet flavor and a boost of vitamins, including vitamin C. Adding vegetables to your smoothie however, is another option for added nutrients. Why not try adding a handful of spinach, or kale to your smoothie for some added calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamin K, vitamin B6 and more?

If you want an extra kick-start to your smoothie and day you might want to consider experimenting with super foods. Super foods such as coconut oil, maca powder, cacao nibs, chia seeds and others are especially beneficial to the body because they are nutrient dense and are packed with vitamins, minerals, and a variety of antioxidants that help improve well-being.

Healthy fats are another option you might want to add to your smoothie to enhance the nutrient content and flavor. If you like avocados, try adding a half of avocado to your smoothie for some good fat, as well as a little extra vitamin C, vitamin E, potassium and fiber. You can also add peanut butter, cashew butter, almonds, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds for some added good fat your body needs and craves.

Another way to spice up your smoothie is to add a little cinnamon, turmeric, cayenne, nutmeg or ginger. Many spices contain antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that promote well being.
